I was at Wheatley Plaza this past weekend dining at Bar Frites. As an aside, we have a great meal there but were disappointed that they removed the Salmon Sliders which is one of our favorite appetizers. I guess there was not a great demand for that one.
As we drove by the old Stop & Shop supermarket (which we all remember as a Pathmark), we were wondering when Uncle Giuseppe’s Marketplace was going to open. For those of you who have forgotten, Stop & Shop closed in 2024. We have been waiting patiently but we would love to partake of their gourmet offerings. Especially after visiting Wegman’s in Lake Grove. If Wegman’s was not so far, it would be my primary market.
After some research, it still appears that Uncle Giuseppe’s is still planning on opening during the First Quarter 2026 (so like 9 months from now). It seems that they are focusing their efforts first on their Bohemia shop and the pop-up market on Fire Island. I wish they showed us some more love!!
In the interim, we can always go to the one in Melville!
