I recently read of the Funicular Crash in Lisbon a couple of days ago. This crash killed 16 people and injured 23 others. A tragedy all around. I have taken this funicular and felt entirely safe during my journey. Our thoughts and prayers are with the those who passed away from this crash

The funiculars in Lisbon are used to climb the long and sloping hills there. There are three, Elevador do Lavra, Elevador da Gloria and Elevador da Bica. They cost € 3.10 to ride. The first funicular started in 1884. These are landmarks and are symbols of national pride in Portugal. In fact, over 3 million people ride these funiculars each year.

Whatever the reason for this crash, this is a major tragedy. I hope that they find out the cause and fix them so that people can enjoy these rides in the future. Our word of advice for travelers is to be careful on the local rides and attractions. Most of these are not maintained like Disney Rides
