Q4 e-tron Battery Proves Its Worth: A Surprising Discovery

I own a 2023 Audi Q4 e-tron and I have been very happy with it overall.  The battery range could be better but it meets my current needs.  I was headed out a two-month long trip and I was concerned that the battery on my Audi would be drained by the time I got back.

Some background information.  I live in the New York and I garage my car.  I was going to be out of town from January 1st through February 28th.  As you would expect the temperate in New York during these months can range between 15 degrees and 55 degrees.

My expectation was that the Audi’s battery would lose between 20% and 30% of its charge due to be unused and the weather having a negative impact.  To offset this expected drainage, I charged my car to 87%.

When I got home, I was super surprised that my car was still charged to 87%.  This means that it did not lose any charge in the 2 months that I was gone.  As I drove my car around, it maintained its normal charge and range.  I still cannot believe this.  My friend who has a Tesla says that his car loses a few percentage points each day.

How is this possible?  Any why does Audi hold its charge while Tesla does not.
