In my search for the best bagels in Florida, I headed to BagelWorks in Boca Raton. I was feeling good since they call themselves the best bagels shop in Boca Raton. How could it not be bad?
The strange thing about BagelWorks is that the appetizers are better than their core bagels. The bagels were in fact disappointing. It started with the color and texture of the bagels. They were not golden brown or crunching. It was just a puffy mess, Then when you move onto the taste, it was a bland roll. I have to conclude that their bagels are substandard even by Florida standards.

On the positive side, we ordered the lox and sampler platters. They really delivered on these items.

On the lox front, it had a real taste and complimented the meal. It would have been amazing if they had the right bagels. The sampler platter was my favorite option. With this platter, we were able to choose, their “legendary” tuna fish salad, the whitefish salad, the baked salmon salad and the egg salad. Other than the egg salad, these salads were amazing. The sampler platter is a must order dish if you are headed to BagelWorks.
As with my other restaurant visits, it comes down to would I go back. The answer is that I would go for the appetizing items in a heart beat. But I would buy my bagels elsewhere!!
