Foodie Alert: You HAVE to Try The Hen & The Hog in Boca Raton

class=wp-image-6226/

The weather finally cleared in Boca Raton so we found an outdoor place for lunch named the Hen and the Hog. There was about an half hour wait so we looked at the menu and saw that it was a classic BBQ shop. It even had a smoker out back. They has a few tables inside but most of the tables and action were outside under umbrellas to avoid the Florida sun.

Most people were ordering breakfast food. It seemed that the most popular items were the Fruity Pebbles French Toast, the Waffles and the Chicken and Waffles. All looked good. But we were in the mood for lunch.

We ended up ordering the Turkey Rachel and the Crispy Chicken Sandwich. The Turkey Rachel had Turkey, Coleslaw, Russian Dressing and Swiss Cheese on Rye Bread. The Crispy Chicken Sandwich was Buttermilk Herb Fried Chicken Breast, Lettuce, Pickles and Ranch Dressing on a Bun (I changed it to the Pretzel Bun).

Our waitress validated our orders by saying that they were the best lunch choices. Strange, I would have thought it would have been the BBQ or smoked meats. But we were happy. It turned out that we loved our choices. The winner was the turkey sandwich by a nose because both were so tasty and fresh. I was not the biggest fan of the Sweet Potatoes so stick with coleslaw or onion rings.

The waitstaff were really friendly and took care of us in the most professional manner. We highly recommend the Hen and the Hog. Out litmus test is whether we would go back and we are definitely headed back for the breakfast. Have to try the waffles and the french toast!!

I just wish we had a BBQ restaurant like this one at home.
