I am looking for a new credit card and was reviewing the various rewards and perks that each credit card offered. Most of the credit card companies offer

  • Travel benefits like trip cancellation and interruption insurance and baggage delay insurance. 

  • Purchase Protection on new purchases or some form of extended warranties.

  • Airport lounge access through Priority Pass but you need to activate the account. I was at an airport where a traveler did not take the required steps and he was denied access to that airport lounge. Boy was he pissed!

  • No Foreign transaction fees on charges

Through the Chase Sapphire credit cards, you can also receive a free DoorDash Membership. Since I do like food, it made me start to wonder what other things can I access through a credit card.

  • The Amex Platinum offers a $155 Walmart+ statement credit each calendar year which is a great feature for those who love shopping from home. Food delivered to you home, now we are talking.

  • Delta Platinum American cards offer a free companion certificate so you can have someone fly free with you.

  • Virgin Atlantic used to offer an opportunity to fly into space for 2,000,000 points but unfortunately this offer appears to have ended. Now you have to limit yourself to flying in a balloon and buying wines through Virgin Wines. But alcohol does seem to be a really good perk.

  • Bank of America credit cards come with access to a unique program called Museums On Us which provides free admission to over 225 cultural institutions during the first weekend of each month.  For those of you who are uncultured like me, you probably would enjoy the free wine over the museum access. But who knows.

So when you are looking for a new credit card, check out all of the benefits and perks offered by the credit card company. You may be able to receive some additional benefit that means something to you. I am trying to see if I can get access to the free wine even though I am not a UK citizen. Fingers crossed.
