I am preparing for a trip and I never travel light which means that I check a bag. That definitely can complicate my travels since my checked bag at one time or another has been lost or at least delayed for hours and days. The best way to fix that issue is to travel solely with carry-ons but that is not the way I travel. I take more clothes and related items than will fit in a carry-on. As a result, I am subject to luggage delays.
With this in mind, there are certain things that I make sure I have in my carry-on. These include
- A Change in Clothes — you never know when your luggage will get delayed. In that event, nothing beats a change of clothes after traveling for a long time.
- Medical Kit that includes band-aids, Tylenol or Advil, anti-septic wipes, burn cream and other items
- Ziploc Bags can be used in a variety of ways. You can seal up something that spills, you can store food for your travels in them, you can get other items dry. All in all, they offer a tremendous amount of help when you are away from home.
- Portable Charger — you never know when you need a charge for your phone. One of the worst things that could happen is if your phone dies and you do not have any way to charge. So much of your life is kept on the phone like a boarding pass and other important documents.
- Disinfecting Wipes — If you do not carry these on any type of trip, I have to highly recommend you look into this. So many places like airplanes and hotels are just plain dirty and loaded with germs. Just think of the limited time that they have to clean from one passenger or guest to another. Do you really think that they sterilize the area?
- Insulated Water Bottle — it is always great to have a water bottle to ensure that you are hydrated and once you arrive at your destination, you can fill it up for your adventure.
So next time you travel, don’t forget to think ahead on what you need and make sure you have it in your carry-on.
